[Me beside a DC-4, a world war II era marvel of engineering (in Africa)]

Welcome to SharkRide! I enjoy the process of creation, and am driven by a desire to make living more meaningful, more productive, and more fun.

This blog is about sharing some of my findings, ideas, and thoughts, and my hope is that it can be a catalyst for innovation.

Just as poetry does not invent original words, but utilizes preexisting words in imaginative ways, innovation is often the result of blending existing — yet disparate – ideas, inventions, or materials.

A roundup of some of my thoughts and ideas is available here.

Some favorite quotes:

“If you have an innovative idea, and the majority does not poo poo your idea, then you must not have a very good idea.”

– Ted Turner

“There is no reason why anyone would want a computer in their home.”

– Ken Olsen, Founder, Digital Equipment Corp., 1977

“The flavors are only five in number but their blends are so various that one cannot taste them all.”

– Sun Tzu

“Electric power is everywhere present in unlimited quantities and can drive the world’s machinery without the need of coal, oil, gas, or any other of the common fuels.”

– Nikola Tesla

“If you follow the herd, you know what you step on.”

– Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

“I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”

– Albert Einstein

“Truth and technology will triumph over bullshit and bureaucracy.”

- Rene Anselmo: Spaceflight privatization pioneer and founder of PanAmSat

“There ain’t no rules around here. We’re trying to accomplish something.”

—Thomas Edison
