MERCENARIES FOR DARFUR - Where is “Batman”?
Tuesday July 29th 2008, 10:12 pm

WSJ today has a powerful op-ed suggesting Blackwater help equip and train the defenseless, who are being slaughtered in Darfur (click here).

With the release of Batman, a billionaire crime fighter, I wonder why billionaires don’t do more to promote justice in the world. Imagine if International Crisis Group, for instance, had a privately funded peace corp that could intervene to stop crimes against humanity.

60 Minutes also had a very powerful segment on Darfur (click here).

  1. Jim Bondoux Says:

Private armies would take us back to a world of warlords and feudal relationships. No thanks.

  2. Matthew Jaunich Says:

Batman would end tyrannical, genocidal warlords. Feudal relationships is different than humanitarian aid. If the alternative is that hundreds of thousands of people are not able to defend themselves from gruesome, genocidal slaughter, where men are decapitated by machetes, teenage girls are gang raped, and entire villages are burned to the ground, then I would say: No Thanks.
